Byton Rideshare Concept
Project Type:
Interior Automotive Design
Date:
2018
A concept developed while at the Chinese car company Byton. The majority of ride-share rides are single passenger. Neither the cars nor the system are optimized for this.
This concept explores an integrated vehicle, optimized to change layouts and providing screens for trip entertainment, information, and connectivity. This was an approach for a reconfigurable ride-share concept able to have a driver that could shift side to side depending on the market as well as be configurable to maximize foot room for the rear passenger to create a first class experience for the rider.
The vehicle was initially developed in the Santa Monica Studio in California, with execution of the physical property being done at Creative Wave GmbH in Dachau, Germany. I spent three months directing a team of engineers and modelers to bring the concept to life, though ultimately Byton shut its doors in the US and the concept was never shown.
